Shark Diving
The Azores are on the migration route of the blue shark Prionace glauca.
Shark diving on Graciosa Island occurs in open sea, in deep water, a few miles from the coast. It is a shallow dive around 10 meters deep), however the absence of references (walls, sand, rocks) makes excellent buoyancy control fundamental.
Sharks are no threat to divers, but remember they are wild animals and can be unpredictable. For everyone's safety, there is a code of conduct that needs to be followed.
Diving with blue sharks is a fascinating experience. These 1.5 - 2 meter long animals are curious and approach and circle divers from a short distance. You will have the opportunity to get close to one of the most extraordinary creatures on the planet, and learn about the way they live.
